Laughter is the best medicine
New words for the Sound of Music
A Few of My Favourite Things 2012?
Tylenol, eardrops and needles for knitting,
Walking frames, handrails and new dental fittings,
Bundles of magazines tied up with string,
These are a few of my favourite things.
Corsets and cataracts, books of bus passes,
Poligrip, hearing aids, false teeth in glasses,
Pacemakers, spectacles, lotions that sting,
These are a few of my favourite things.
When the pipes leak, when the bones creak, when the knees go bad,
Then I remember my favourite things
And then I don't feel so bad.
Hot tea and muffins, and corn pads for bunions,
No food that’s spicy nor food cooked with onions,
Bathrobes and heat pads and hot meals they bring,
These are a few of my favourite things.
Back pains, confused brains and no fear of sinning,
Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinning.
Offers of pensions and junk mail to sling,
These are a few of my favourite things.
Income Tax letters and phone calls from bankers,
Offers of credit and emails from wankers,
Forms and “procedures” that make my brain ring
These are a few of my least favourite things.
When the joints ache, when the hips break, when the eyes
grow dim,
Then I remember what life could have been,
And then I feel REALLY bad.
Written at a bad time in 2001 and amended on my birthday. Sep. 29 2009.
