Different types of job
interviews
There are a variety of
interview types that employers may conduct, including second interviews,
phone and video interviews and even interviews held during a meal.
Lunch and Dinner
Interviews
Interviewing can be more stressful when you are expected to eat and talk at
the same time. One of the reasons employers take job candidates out to lunch
or dinner is to evaluate their social skills and to see if they can handle
themselves gracefully under pressure. Make sure you use correct table
etiquette, don't drink alcohol and write a thank-you not afterwards.
Group Interviews
There are two types of group interviews. One is being interviewed by a group
(or panel) of interviewers, the other is being interviewed with a group of
other applicants.
Second Interviews
You passed the first interview with flying colors and you have been asked to
attend a second interview. Ask questions and be sure to include anything you
missed saying the first time.
Telephone Interviews
It's important to be prepared for a phone interview on a moment's
notice. Use all the same techniques that you have prepared for the "real"
interview. Keep a pen and notepad beside you and speak clearly and slowly.
Video Interviews
Use all the same techniques that you have prepared for the "real"
interview. Practice beforehand if possible and maintain "eye contact" with
the camera.
