Hard to Swallow?

We swallow about 600 times a day (where else would all that saliva go!) and only really think about it if we choke or, because of illness or disease, find it difficult to swallow.
Besides directing food and fluids into the stomach, this reflexive action protects our lungs from "foreign bodies," so it can be alarming when the normal, smooth, automatic movement is impaired. But there are tried and tested techniques and strategies, which can make swallowing easier for people who have difficulty, from whatever cause.
